A powerful, consistent and cohesive image for the corporate identity

Situation 

Software for Chemistry & Materials BV (SCM) needed a powerful, consistent and cohesive image for their corporate identity. Many different images of chemical models were being used interchangeably, all varying in colour, appearance, cropping and usage, creating a cluttered impression

Issue

Among the existing model screenshots, there was no truly powerful hero image. On the website, this resulted in a messy look, and SCM wanted it resolved.

Approach

We chose to create a base illustration of the Au element (gold atom) with a nanotube in the background. It was built entirely in vector (lines and shapes only) in Illustrator, with the advantage that the illustration can be scaled up to any size. This makes it easy and precise to adapt for optimal use on the website, posters, banners, brochures and more. The background is also fully customisable.

Result

An Au atom with a background that fits perfectly on the website and has become a powerful building block of the SCM corporate identity. The image creates a rich, spatial feeling, as if you could 'travel' through the atom.

The banner was printed and delivered in the USA, so the sales manager didn't have to carry it on the plane from the Netherlands.
